The truth is out there. My job as a UX designer is to find it... and face it. Because a beautiful design that isn't based on the real needs of real users is, let's face it, a waste of everyone's time and resources.
I apply this principle to my design, animation and illustration work as well. "That's... nice" means you're dissatisfied with something, and I want to know what that is --before the client does. Input is always valuable, and great insights can come from the smallest comments. So I listen. I listen carefully. And I improve my work. Because I love to create great work. And when that work brings a smile to someone's face, I know I've succeeded.
So at this point you may be thinking, "Hey, this guy is a humorless grind!," or maybe something more colorful. (See! I'm a good listener!) But I try to keep things light at work and inject a little humor where I can because, hey, we're all working hard.
When I'm not working, I'm at home hanging out with my family, boogie boarding on the Cape, or landscaping my yard. OK, and maybe watching a thriller on Netflix, too.
